Why Do Animals Need Chloroplasts
Animal cells dont have chloroplasts because animals arent green plants.
Why do animals need chloroplasts. It would be better if we were able to use sunlight as a source of energy for metabolism. Why plants need both chloroplasts and mitochondria. For example plant cells contain chloroplasts since they need to perform photosynthesis but animal cells do not.
For example plant cells contain chloroplasts since they need to perform photosynthesis but animal cells do not. As plants make their own food they need chloroplasts but as animals rely on other organisms for food they do not need chloroplasts. However plant cells and animal cells do not look exactly the same or have all of the same organelles since they each have different needs.
Chloroplasts are the Organelles in Plant Cells which absorblight energy using chlorophyll and use this energy to react Waterand Carbon dioxide to form Glucose and Oxygen. The organelles are only found in plant cells and some protists such as algae. Why do plant cells have chloroplasts and animal cells do not.
O Chloroplasts are rich in fats and liplds that are generated by photosynthesis satisfying the energy requirements of many animals O Animals do not have chloroplasts and must depend on organisms that can photosynthesize the energy they need. Animal cells use mitochondria to convert food into energy and plant cells use both chloroplasts and mitochondria to make energy from light air and water. Sun light will be required for photosynthesis and it may lead to sunburn and skin cancers.
Both plant and animal cells are eukaryotic so they contain membrane-bound organelles like the nucleus and mitochondria. Chloroplasts are present in photosynthetic plants and is responsible for making the food of the plantOn the other hand mitochondria also known as the power house of the cell uses this oxygen in order to create ATP which is used for various purposes like active transport releasing minerals and many more in plants. While we do see some examples of animals that have chloroplasts and mitochondria in some of their cells such as in some sea slugs scientists wanted to see if they could make an animal that could photosynthesize.
Secondly what do animal cells have that plants don t. After photosynthesis which chloroplasts are needed for which yields oxygen and glucose plants need to break down the glucose and they use cell respiration to do this which happens in the mitochondria. Chloroplasts come in various shapes with many of them shaped like disks.
