Siamese Cat Eyes Always Dilated
While we will never know what cats are thinking when they sit across the room and glare at us at least now when we glare back we can pick up a thing or two just by looking them in the eye.
Siamese cat eyes always dilated. Glaucoma in cats is a disease that involves increased pressure of fluid inside the eye aqueous humor. If the pupils of your cats eyes are a different size then this is known as anisocoria. Having wide pupils permanently could be a sign of any of the following health conditions.
Besides interfering with a cats vision this condition may be painful for the cat. This is a natural quirk of the siamese breed and no cause for concern. As a result this breed may have trouble with night vision.
It can also be a display of surprise or fear depending on the situation. Excitement although it might seem otherwise dilated pupils arent always a bad sign. She has always been like this since she was a kitten and she just turned 10 yesterday.
Dilated larger pupils or squinting can be a sign of pain elsewhere in the body. Dilated pupils are pupils that are larger than normal in size. When she walks around she acts like she is scared to death of everything.
But occasional dilation can be caused by contentment excitement and most often the level of light in her surroundings. No clue if the dilated pupils have anything to do with the heart murmur or if both issues are a result of poor nutrition and life on the lamb being scared for the first 4 months of his life. If too much light gets in and the pupils cant change it will affect vision and be uncomfortable.
The retinas could easily get damaged if prolonged sunlight occurs. One minute they look normal and then her pupils are huge and stay that way for quite a while. My cats eyes arent dilating correctly.
