Orange Cats Usually Male
Orange tabby cat toms outnumber queens approximately four to one.
Orange cats usually male. The gene that codes for orange fur is on the X chromosome. According to the BBCs Focus Magazine the ginger gene in cats works a little differently compared to humans. Orange tabbies love eating and they are often obese and lazy.
Not surprisingly orange cats are often considered friendly and loveable while white cats are seen as distant and black cats as mysterious. As you may recall from high school biology mammals have two chromosomes that determine their sexXX for females and XY for males. However a female cat has two X chromosomes and to be orange she has to inherit an X chromosome with red factor on it from both parents.
According to these genetic combinations a male cat could be orange tones and in fact it is frequent but not tricolor. Orange is an optimistic color. It is on the X chromosome.
Any cat male or female can be orange but in males the color is nearly always expressed in the tabby striped pattern sometimes called a ginger tom. Orange cats are usually male. The lifespan of orange tabby cats depends on their particular breed and not cover patterns.
In fact up to 80 percent of orange tabbies are male making orange female cats a bit of a rarity. Most orange cats are male and most calicos are female. Therefore in an urban environment the competitive nature of orange male cats may heighten their risk of death eg through fights with cats or other animals thus driving down the proportions.
Well its not that orange female cats are rare it is simply that an orange cat is more likely to be a male. For a female cat to be orange she must inherit two orange genes one from her mother orange calico or tortoiseshell and one from her father who must be orange. Are orange haired cats usually male.
